Ingredients

  • 250 grams Black Beluga Lentils
  • 3 pods black cardamom
  • 1 medium stick cinnamon
  • 3 Indian bay leaves (Cinnamomum tamala)
  • pinch of crushed chilli
  • garam masala powder
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 6-8 cloves garlic
  • sunflower (or canola) oil
  • salt

Instructions

  • In a medium pan heat 1 teaspoon of oil and add Indian bay leaves, cinnamon stick, cardamon pods. Toast the spices for 1 minute.
  • Add 1 teaspoon of garam masala and pinch ot chili. Stir it for 1 minute.
  • Add 3 cup of cold water, ΒΌ teaspoon of salt and Black Beluga Lentils.
  • Bring it boil and cook it about 25 to 35 minutes.
  • Add tomato paste and 1 teaspoon of garam masala. If it necessary add more water. Cook it for 10 minutes.

For the toppings

  • Chop the garlic and red bell pepper.
  • In a small pan heat 1 teaspoon of oil. Add the red bell pepper and little bit burn them.
  • Add chopped garlic and stir it for 1 minute.
  • Enjoy!
