Hungarian Pogácsa

Hungarian pogácsa is easy to make. This is my family recipe.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Resting Time: 1 hour
Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
Course: Dessert
Cuisine: Hungarian

Ingredients

  • 150 grams butter  (or margarine)
  • 350 grams plain flour
  • 1 tablespoon sour cream (Hungarian: tejföl)
  • 1 egg
  • 7 grams baking powder
  • teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients. Stir until become a dough. I usually use a stand mixer for making a dough.
  • Wrap the dough and put the refrigerator for a hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 190℃ (375°F).
  • Line a large baking sheet with baking parchment.
  • Roll the dough 1-inch-thick (2,5-cm-thick) on the lightly floured surface.
  • Make a shallow cross-hatched pattern with a sharp knife all over the dough surface. With a floured cutter, stamp out rounds with a 4,5-cm- (1 3/4-inch-) diameter.
  • Arrange them on the baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.

Notes

You can sprinkle grated cheese on top every pogácsa.
