This pancake recipe is very simple, it need just 6 ingredients. You can use any kind of fillings in the pancakes be it sweet or savory.
Basic: Hungarian Pancakes
Hungarian pancakes (palacsinta) are paper thin pancakes (similar to French crepes).

- 1 non-stick crepe/pancake pan
Ingredients
- 3 eggs
- 350 grams plain flour
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
- 8 dl cold water
- 2 tablespoons sunflower (or canola) oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl mix the eggs, the sugar and the salt.
- Add flour, cold water and oil. Mix it well.
- Heat a non-stick crepe/pancake pan. When it is hot, pour or scoop the batter onto the pan. Tilt the pan with a circular motion so that the batter coats the surface. This should be a very thin coat.
- Cook 1 to 2 minutes until pancake begin to lift from pan. Loosen with a spatula. (Or flip the pancake in the air.) Turn and cook the other side 1 minute.
- The pancake is done when both sides are a light brown.
- Repeat with remaining batter. You can make 18-19 pancakes from this batter.
Sweet crepe/pancakes fillings
You can fill the pancakes with sweet quark filling, chocolate ganache, jam or Nutella.
Savory crepe/pancakes fillings
Usually we eat the Hungarian pancakes with sweet fillings but ‘Hortobágyi palacsinta’ Meat-Filled Crepes is a very popular meal when we filling the crepe/pancakes with Hungarian stew.
You can also fill the pancakes with cheese, sliced fresh vegetables or grilled chicken.
